Having recently celebrated supporting 100 grassroots charities around Australia with over $3.7m in funding plus substantial capacity-building services in just a few years, The Funding Network is expanding operations into Melbourne with the appointment of Andrea Heffernan.
Andrea recently assumed the role of TFN State Director Victoria. She has devoted over 15 years to professionally and voluntarily working to develop philanthropy and the not-for-profit sector. In this time, she has worked for Australian Communities Foundation, Kidsafe Tasmania and as a board member of Focus Individualised Support Services on the Mornington Peninsula.
Since 2003 Andrea has been General Manager of Australian Communities Foundation, a position in which she has gained strong skills in strategy creation, and donor and fund development. This work has also extended her deep knowledge of philanthropy and not-for-profit tax and legal laws. Her oversight has aided the foundation to grow to the largest independent community foundation in Australia.
Andrea’s passion for growing philanthropy, and to make it accessible and engaging for all people made her decision to join TFN an easy one. She is excited about being able to create opportunities to expand TFN’s community in Victoria.
“We’re delighted that Andrea has joined our small but energetic team,” said TFN CEO Lisa Cotton. “She has extensive management and operations experience, as well as a deep understanding of the nuances of grassroots charities, which is vital to ensuring TFN showcases the most high-potential social change programs to donors.”
