All organisations applying to pitch at TFN need to have PBI, Registered Charity status, or a formal auspice partnership with an organisation that does.
In the case of auspice partnerships we also require either a copy of the existing Auspice Agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties. Or, in the absence of that, a letter from your auspice partner on formal letterhead confirming the relationship.
These guidelines are important to ensure that all stakeholders (presenting organisations, their auspice partners, TFN, our donors and PAF holders) are abiding by the ATO regulations. Non-compliance can lead to DGR and TCC status’ being revoked and even prosecution. The following is a short guide to what that letter should state and an example of some copy you could share with your auspice partner if useful.
Clearly state the following:
Example letter content:
To whom it concerns,
<Insert name of auspice partner> is an organisation <EITHER> with Deductible Gift Recipient Item 1 and Tax Concession status <OR> that operates a charitable fund named <insert name of entity> with DGR1 and TCC status.
Please refer to our ABN <insert ABN # for the entity with DGR 1 and TCC status> and the accompanying documentation from the ATO.
The mission and goals of <insert name of auspice partner> are <insert summary of the auspice partner’s stated mission and goals>. These are clearly aligned with the mission and programs of <insert name of your organisation being auspiced> which are <insert summary of your stated mission and goals>.
As such, we are delighted to confirm our ongoing relationship and partnership with <insert name of your organisation>.
Yours sincerely,
<Insert name and signature of official representative of auspice partner>
